CJ Brown "Gives Back" to Chicago

Chicago Soccer Legend Announces Launch of Charitable Foundation

CHICAGO (November, 2022) -   CJ Brown, a legendary Chicago Fire Soccer defender during his playing days here in Chicago, is proud to announce the formation of the CJ Brown Foundation.

"The launch of the CJ Brown Foundation has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember," says CJ Brown.  During his playing days with the Chicago Fire and throughout his current coaching career, CJ Brown has had the opportunity to visit and participate in community programs that provide both educational and recreational opportunities for disadvantaged youth.  He knew years ago that he wanted to "give back" to those less fortunate.   "Two years of dreaming, planning, and preparing the CJ Brown Foundation for this public launch is very rewarding," says Brown.  "We are excited to help make better tomorrows for kids throughout the Chicagoland area; especially in high-risk communities and neighborhoods of need."

The mission of the CJ Brown Foundation is to empower disadvantaged youth with personal, educational and career goals that support, unify, and raise the quality of lives with their communities.

Initially, the CJ Brown Foundation will produce and support after-school soccer recreational programs that incorporate an educational component.  "My goal is to work in underserved communities to help continue the children's educational experience and also help families manage their work life balance all while having the opportunity to learn, have fun, and play soccer," said Brown.

CJ Brown, a "Chicago Fire Original" was drafted to play for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club in 1998 and played his entire 13 season career as a member of the Chicago Fire.  He retired as the Chicago Fire all-time leader in competitive appearances (372 games), starts (364 games), and minutes played (32,538 minutes). He retired from playing after 13 seasons in MLS and was inducted into the Chicago Fire Ring of Fire in 2012.

"In 1998 I was drafted to play for the Chicago Fire Soccer Team and am proud to have been part of that historical inaugural season that saw the Chicago Fire win the "double" (MLS CUP and the US Open Cup). The City of Chicago and the great Chicago Fire Soccer fans embraced me & my family, so now it is my chance in turn to give back", says Brown.
